$1,000,000.00 Settlement for Injured Emergency Worker

On March 22, 2013 we obtained a $1,000,000.00 settlement for one of our "first Responder" clients. Our client was working for a Village Fire Department as an EMT-"First Responder". While assisting the transport of the patient to an area hospital he slipped and fell while exiting his emergency vehicle on ice that was allowed to accumulate on the apron of the driveway outside the Emergency Room entrance. Despite the end of an earlier snow fall and that the ambulance radioed the hospital that they were on the way to its facility, the hospital and its snow removal contractor failed to properly clear the ice and place sand and salt. As out client exited his vehicle, he slipped and fell and his back struck the running board of his truck. As a result, he sustained a severe injury to his back. After successfully defeating the hospital motion to dismiss, as well as their Appeal to the Appellate Division, we were able to obtain this significant settlement for our grateful client.
