The New York Times recently reported that f atal construction accidents have grown at an alarming rate in New York City as building projects increase in number. Many of 29 recent victims were Hispanic immigrants working for small contractors in non-union jobs. Falls from hanging scaffolds have been the single greatest factor in this increase. Top officials of the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administrationand the city’s Buildings Department said they were disturbed by the trend and vowed vigorous enforcement of safety rules and unannounced inspections of construction sites.

New York has strict laws which protect injured construction workers. If you or a loved one is injured at a construction site, you need a law firm who understands the industry as well as the complicated laws developed to protect workers. Construction work is demanding and dangerous. Safety on the site is often overlooked by those in charge simply to keep the job moving. Under New York Law, the owner or general contractor of the project can be held strictly liable for your injuries.

If you have been injured in a construction accident, you need an attorney to help you navigate the aftermath that a devastating injury can cause to you and your family and help you get the money you need for medical treatment, lost earnings, other expenses, and for the pain and suffering you have been forced to go through as a result of someone else's negligence.
